The top black player are Anatoly Karpove. This ex-wold champion the most who play this variation. U can check database by yourselves.
I start the opening database at 2005, When I really interest with Vishy and Moro games. Lately Moro going down in the latest tournament. But I still his big fan. Vishy play with the opening solid and balance at that’s time. Im enjoy his games. The Moro games give me unpleasant feeling. Hate but love. With the pieces like not human move. Completely uncentralization. You can try D17 variation. Moro play quiet often at that’s time.
Against Caro-Kann opening, when black play 4…Nd7, Vishy always pick Ng5 variation. So I think this good variation, if not why the strongest GM play. I checked with computer, this variation have complex position. Some o f them get to Rook sacrifice.
Lately, this variation getting less been discuss in GM level. May be, there have variation which black can equalize the game or the popular of advance variation 3.e5 and 4..Bf5 variation or white better anyhow. I don’t Know.
